# Roentgen
Roentgen controls proxying of the machine on which it runs.
## Language
**Subscription**:
A saved URL supplied by 3x-ui and the collection of proxy configurations retrieved from it.
**Configuration**:
A connection definition retrieved from a subscription that can be selected for proxying traffic.
_Avoid_: Server, node, profile
**Subscription entry**:
An item received from a subscription, which may contain a usable configuration, unsupported connection data or invalid data. Invalid and unsupported entries remain visible but cannot be selected.
**Selected configuration**:
The optional configuration explicitly chosen by the user for proxying traffic. It starts unset, and imports never choose one automatically; selection alone does not enable the proxy.
**Viewed subscription**:
The subscription whose configurations are currently displayed. Changing the viewed subscription does not change the selected configuration.
**Direct private networks**:
The private address ranges excluded from proxying by default, regardless of whether they are directly connected or which port is used. They include the RFC 1918 IPv4 networks and IPv6 unique-local range `fc00::/7`.
**Local machine**:
The machine running Roentgen whose traffic it controls, including a server accessed through SSH.
**TUN mode**:
The mode intended to route the local machine's traffic through the selected configuration.
**Enabled**:
The user's requested state in which traffic must use TUN and the selected configuration. A proxy failure does not change this request or permit direct fallback.
**Disabled**:
The user's requested state in which traffic uses ordinary direct routing, regardless of proxy availability.
**Kill switch**:
The protection that blocks direct fallback while proxying is enabled but cannot carry traffic.
**Proxy health**:
The observed ability of the selected configuration to carry traffic. Health is separate from the user's enabled or disabled state.
**Ping**:
The interface's name for an HTTPS delay check carried through a proxy configuration. It measures the proxy path rather than an ICMP round trip.
